Integrated CO2 capture and utilization with CaO-alone for high purity syngas production

Carbon capture and utilization (CCU) represent a promising strategy to reduce CO2 emissions promote sustainable economy. We report an integrated CCU (ICCU) process by integrating with reverse water gas shift reaction applying simple low-cost CaO as both sorbent catalyst. By switching the feeding from source H2 isothermally, up 75% of captured was 100% converted into CO at 600-700 °C cycle performance significantly improved under ICCU condition. In addition, simulation confirms significant economic advantage compared similar traditional processes. The work could dramatically cost materials simplify processes advance development deployment carbon neutrality technologies. One-Sentence Summary: A widely used material, CaO, not only adsorb efficiently but also in situ convert valuable syngas > conversion realise neutrality, which is vital target for future development.
